Research

During my undergraduate studies I fell in love with Portuguese language, and my desire to sing Brazilian songs naturally followed. I made it a mission of mine to dive deeper into Brazilian music after facing difficulties locating scores and recordings in the United States.

Brazilian works are often overlooked in Western classical music education due to the linguistic barrier with Portuguese language. When these works are not performed, musicians and audiences are not exposed to these songs and they remain trapped in a cycle of never being performed. One of my main artistic and scholarly goals is to be a voice for Brazilian vocal repertoire in the United States by researching and performing Brazilian vocal music to break this cycle.
